    Typist to Editor to Editor of top Environmental Journal of the time. Jounal of American Waterl Works Association. There he directly participated in the drafting of the Clean Water Acts 1 and 2 That experience and familiarity to regulators in government made him the choice to become Director for Environmental Affairs of the American Petroleum Institute with the job of being Chairman of the Industry Roundtable on the Environment . A congressionally sponsored committee for the purpose of passing the environmental legislation being proposed -- The Clean Air Act. Arne continued as Director until he died in 1978 of multiple heart attacks. He was somehow able to get enough of the big oil and auto guys to go along to get the laws passed. That was an achievement that benefitted us all.
