Arthur Bertram Robinson of Hawthorn, City of Boroondara County, VIC Australia was born in 1873 in Collingwood, City of Yarra County to Joseph Robinson and Emily Robinson. Arthur Robinson had siblings Gwendoline Robinson and Charles Henry Robinson. He married Anna Elizabeth Lorenz in 1903. They had children Neville Robinson and Margery Robinson. Arthur Robinson died at age 74 years old on October 17, 1948 in Hawthorn, City of Boroondara County.

In 1873, in the year that Arthur Bertram Robinson was born, on February 12th, The Coinage Act of 1873 was signed by President Ulysses S. Grant. It went into effect on April 1st and ended the use of gold and silver in the U.S. for currency - placing the country on the gold standard. The Act wasn't popular with everyone.

In 1884, he was just 11 years old when on May 1st, the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions - a US association - first resolved that "eight hours shall constitute a legal day's labour from and after May 1, 1886, and that we recommend to labour organisations throughout this jurisdiction that they so direct their laws as to conform to this resolution by the time named." Previously, workdays would consist of 10 to 16 hours a day - 6 days a week. It would take years before the 8 hour workday became common practice - and longer before it became a law.
