Arthur Charles Clokey was born on October 12, 1921 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan United States to Mildred Mae Cairnes and Arthur Wesley Farrington. He married Ruth Goodell in 1948 and they later divorced in 1966. They had children Ann Helene Clokey and Joseph Arthur Clokey. He also married Gloria Maria Clokey on October 23, 1976 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, and they were married until Gloria's death on August 19, 1998. Arthur Clokey died at age 88 years old on January 8, 2010 in Baywood-Los Osos, San Luis Obispo County.
Born to Arthur Wesley Farrington and Mildred Mae Shelters. Art’s father died in a car accident when he was a young boy. Subsequently, his mother remarried, but the stepfather did not want to raise the child of another man, and he was put into an orphanage.
Later, a famed composer named Joseph Waddell Clokey adopted Art, whose surname was then changed to Clokey.
