    Arthur George Wallin was born on February 27, 1920 in Calistoga, California to parents George Earl Wallin (1884-1962) and Mamie Bell Welling (1884-1958). He had siblings Charles William Wallin (1908-1999), Earl Edward Wallin (1909-1988), Pearl Catherine Wallin (1909-1997), Marvin Lee Wallin (1911-1979), Oliver Harrison Wallin (1914-1985), Mae Rose Wallin (1916-1990), and Ruby Hazel Wallin (1922-2010). He grew up in Petaluma and King City, CA. On April 22, 1938 he married Ellen Pearl Nell (1918-1995) in Soledad, Monterey, California, USA. Together the couple had a son, Robert Lee Wallin (1940-2015). The family later moved to San Benito, California, USA where he was living at the time of his registration for the draft on July 1, 1941. He was 21 years old and was employed by Armour and Co at the time. He then enlisted on November 8, 1941, in San Francisco, California. He was assigned to the Branch Immaterial Warrant Officers, which meant he was selected for a position that required a specific skill or trade. His rank was Private, Selectees (enlisted men).

Soledad Residents Married Here
At a quiet ceremony solemnized at noon Friday, Miss Ellen Pearl Hanover and Mr. Arthur George Wallin, both residents of Soledad, were united in marriage in the parsonage of First Methodist church.

The Rev. C. G. Zierk officiated at the ceremony.

Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Edwin L. Akins of San Benito. Following a short honeymoon trip the newlyweds will reside in Soledad.
