My Serendipitous Experience.
I began researching about my family, the Hume family. I found that there is a Hume Clan site, with information about origins, a large, ever-growing family tree and an archaeological dig going on in Scotland at Hume Village. Whilst researching about my immediate family members who served in WW1 and WW2, I came across Arthur's name, what he did, where he served and where he died.
My serendipitous experience came about when as a relief teacher I go to many different schools. On this particular occasion I went to do a days relief at The Terrace Primary School in Wellington. It must have been the a day or two after ANZAC Day circa 2018 and I discovered that Dame Patsy Reddy, New Zealand's then Governor General had arrived at the school to lay a wreath in commemoration of ANZAC Day on the school's new memorial site. The school had on display many pictures of past students and books about the ANZAC's. I only realized when I got home and was going over the information sheets about Arthur that he had attended this very same primary school!
I felt proud and privileged to have been there! To have been there at this special time brought you close to me and my immediate family. You will now be always remembered as you are family.
Lots of Love always,
