    Arthur Hanz Petrin was born in Onamia, Mille Lacs, Minnesota, USA on May 7, 1907 to parents Kerstin Danielsdotter (1863-1935) and Hans Petren (1863-1939). It is unknown if he had any siblings. On August 13, 1932 he married Myrtle Elva Slater (1914-2006) and they had 7 children together including Delores Mae (1932-1972), Duane Arthur (1935-2001), Shirley Ann Prange (1937-2013, Keith Allen (1941-2019), an infant girl who did not survive (1953-1953), and William Dean "Bill" (1957-2002). He would later go on to have 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Throughout his life he lived and worked in Onamia, Minnesota where he worked for the Works Progress Administration. In the early 1940's he moved to St. Paul. where he worked at Swift Meat Packing Company for three years. He then moved back to Onamia in 1943 and worked for Coop Oil until retiring in 1973.     Published Sunday July 25, 1999 in the St. Cloud Times (Saint Cloud, Minnesota): Arthur Petrin, 92 Onamia. May 15, 1907-July 23, 1999 Memorial services will be 11am Monday at Living Water Assembly of God Church for Arthur H. Petrin, 92, who died Friday at Mille Lacs Nursing Home, Onamia. A private family burial will be at a later date in Foster Cemetery. Friends may call an hour before services Monday at the church in Onamia. Arrangements were made by Shelley Funeral Chapel, Onamia. Arthur Petrin was born on the family farm near Onamia to Hans and Kristine (Danielson) Petrin. He pitched for the Cove and Onamia baseball teams. He married Myrtle Slater in 1933. During the Great Depression, he worked for the Works Progress Administration and traveled to farms that offered any kind of employment. In the early 1940's, he worked for Swift Meat Packing Company, St. Paul. He moved back to Onamia in 1943. He worked for Coop Oil until retiring in 1973. He was in the US Army in 1945. Survivors include his wife, of Augustana Nursing Home, Minneapolis; daughters and sons, Shirley Prange of Wahkon, and Karen Jones, Duane, William, and Keith of Onamia; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Delores, an infant daughter; and brothers and sisters, Emil, Oscar, Albin, William, Tony, John, Anna, and Selma.
