Arthur was born Charlton, served in ww1 as Charlton and in order to marry Hilda he used the name Charleston ( he was in the process of divorcing Gladys) Hilda did not know he had been married previously nor that their marriage was considered null and void until he became very ill. She left him and did not speak to him again. His son Jake and his daughter inlaw Laurel nursed him until his death in 1944

I have the birth certificate used to marry Hilda using a 'false' name and Arthur's actual birth certificate.
