Arthur Henry Trahan of Bondi, Waverley Council County, NSW Australia was born in 1877 in Williamstown, City of Hobsons Bay County, VIC to Alice Clarke Trahan and Joseph Trahan. He had siblings George Joseph Trahan, Alice Emma Trahan, Reuben Edward Trahan, Louis Frederick Trahan, and Lewis Frederick Trahan. He married Frances Emily Birch in 1907, and had children Sylvia Beryl Trahan and Harold Arthur Russell Trahan. Arthur Trahan died at age 62 years old on July 20, 1940 in Bondi, Waverley Council County, NSW.

In 1877, in the year that Arthur Henry Trahan was born, on March 2nd, the U.S. presidential election of 1876 was ended with the selection of Rutherford B. Hayes as the winner. Samuel J. Tilden had won the popular vote in November 1876 but 20 votes in the electoral college were in dispute. An informal agreement was made in which Hayes agreed to remove federal troops from South Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana, ending Reconstruction in the South. So, on March 4th, Rutherford B. Hayes became the 19th President of the United States.
