Arthur Moore Hogan 1880 - 1918

Arthur Moore Hogan of Temora, Temora Shire Council County, NSW Australia was born in 1880 in Carlton, Melbourne City County, VIC to Agnes Barr (Connell) Hogan and Arthur Butler Hogan. He had siblings Charles Butler Hogan and Leslie Robert Hogan. He married Grace (Maher) Hogan, and had a child Raymond Alfred Hogan. Arthur Hogan died at age 37 years old on July 4, 1918 in Hamel, Nord County, Hauts-de-France France, and was buried at Australian National Memorial near Villers-Bretonneux Route de Villers Bretonneux, in Fouilloy, Somme County.

  • Introduction

    Married Grace Maher in 1908 at Fitzroy. Battle of Hamel, France, 1918. - 800 Australians killed. The Cootamundra Herald, New South Wales. 24th July 1918. Pte. Hogan Killed. The Rev. Norman Gardner received word this morning asking him to inform Mrs. Hogan, of Crown street, that her husband, Pte. Arthur Moore Hogan, of the 21st Battalion, had been killed in action in France on 4th inst. Mrs. Hogan was staying with her brother and his wife ( Mr. and Mrs. A. Maher ), for several months, but recently took up her residence at Temora. Pte. Hogan had been away for the past two years. Sympathy will be felt for the sorrowing widow, and her four-year-old son.

Eccles ( late of North Carlton ), loved brother of the late Charles, Harry, Lieut. Les ( still on active service ), Alice ( Mrs. J. F. Allison ), and Letty. ( Inserted by his sorrowing family.)
