    Arthur Nelson Stover, 85, of 403 E Fourth St, Oil City, died at 12:10 am Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Golden Living Center-Oil City, following an extended illness.Born March 5, 1925 in Oil City, he was a son of the late Nelson Earl and Hazel Vesta Graham Stover.Mr. Stover attended Oil City schools.He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.Arthur was a proud veteran of WW II serving in the US Army from 1943 to 1945 in Battery A, 203 Field Artillery Battalion as a Cannoneer. He was in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign. He saw battles in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was honorably discharged on October 31, 1945.He was employed by Foster Forbes Glass for 39 years.Arthur enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling. He also enjoyed time with his favorite dog, Serena.On April 19, 1947 he married the former Phyllis Gegogeine, who survives.Also surviving are four daughters, Merrie Slater and husband Bob of Seneca, Rose Player and husband Denny of Magna UT, Joyce Huff and husband Bill of Decatur AL, and Leslie Raybuck and husband Doug of Seneca; 12 grandchildren, Steve Slater of Seneca, Jim Slater of Cheboygan MI, Alisa Houghton of Stansbury UT, Dannette Rasmussen of Stansbury UT, Nicole Brace of West Valley City UT, Ben Player of Shelly ID, Shane Player of West Jordan UT, Jessica Huff and Karl Huff of Jackson OH, Aimee Huff of Morehead KY, Shawn and Samantha Raybuck of Seneca; 24 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.Also surviving are one brother, Robert Stover of Kennerdell; three sisters, Dorothy Churchhill of Washington, Betty Douglass and husband Paul of Rockhill SC, and Hazel Ralph of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Bertha Nelson and several in-laws.Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Friday from 1 to 3 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home at 3 pm.Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Cranberry.The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of one's choice.
