Arthur Ronald Cecelski is Caucasian and is a third generation of Polish descent. His parents are Arthur Zigfried Cecelski and Blanche (Drabinowicz) Cecelski. He has a sister : Eleanor (Cecelski) Birmingham. He married Dorthy (Duda) Cecelski and had two children: Mark Stefan Cecelski and David Arthur Cecelski. Mark has two children: Stefan Francis Cecelski and Rachel Louise Cecelski. Arthur R. was a US Naval Officer (USNR) and retired as a LCDR. He was a submarine officer serving on the USS Bluegill and USS Hardhead as XO. He worked in the USN Inspection and Survey (INSURV) Office as a weapons inspector for new SSNs and SSBNs during the 1960s and 1970s. He finished his career working in the Office of Naval Research (ONR) working in underwater acoustics. His research brought him to the top of the world in the artic at ARLIS 5. Once retired from the USNR he worked in the defense industry in underwater acoustics supporting ONR and the David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center (DTNSRDC), which is now NSWC Carderock Divison. Arthur's son, Mark, reminded Arthur, called Art by friends, of his passion for sailing which started by sailing a dinghy in Salem harbor.
