Uncover new discoveries and connections today by sharing about people & moments from yesterday.
  • Introduction

Lamont Bentley was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Los Angeles with his mother who was an aspiring singer. It was during his mother's auditions that Lamont's comedic talent shone through, as he frequently made people laugh. This prompted him to begin his own entertainment career, starting with commercials, and eventually moving on to television and film roles. Lamont's most notable commercial was for Starburst. Lamont's television career included co-starring roles in "South Central" and "The Client," as well as starring in the PSA "Fatherhood." His film debut was in "Tales From the Hood," where he played Crazy K, a sadistic gangster. However, Lamont's range extended beyond this role as he also played the eternally hungry, happy-go-lucky Hakeem Campbell on the UPN sitcom "Moesha," alongside Brandy. In addition to acting, Lamont also showcased his talents in hosting. He hosted eight weeks of "THE UPN Movie Trailer," where he provided commentaries on movies such as Marathon Man and Devlin. Unfortunately, Lamont's life was cut short when he died in a car crash on the night of January 18th, 2005. For a detailed report of the accident that killed Lamont see Artimus L Bentley: Obituary. Later reports indicate that neither drugs nor alcohol had any part in the accident.
