    Arturo Infante was born on August 26th, 1915 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Amador Infante, born in 1888, and Antonia Salinas (1892 - 1939) and he had one brother, Ramiro (1911 - 1933) and one sister, Margarita, born in 1918. Arturo married Trinidad Esquivel (1918 - 2013) on February 9th, 1937 in Nueces, Texas, and they had three daughters, Margarita, Trinidad, and Candelaria; and one son, Arturo. On his October 1940 World War II draft card, Arturo described himself as being five feet three inches tall and as weighing 130 pounds. He had brown eyes, black hair, and a "dark brown" complexion.

In 1915, in the year that Arturo Infante was born, The Birth of a Nation opened in February. A silent film, it was the most ambitious film to date and is considered a classic. Three hours long, it starred Lillian Gish and was directed by D. W. Griffith. The movie was based on the book The Clansman and told the story of two families (one pro-Union and one pro-Confederate) and their relationship during the Civil War and Reconstruction. The KKK was shown as "a heroic force".

In 1944, when he was 29 years old, on June 6th, the largest amphibious invasion in history was launched - the Normandy landing (called D-Day). Soldiers from the United States, Britain, Canada, and the Free French landed on Normandy Beach and were later joined by Poland, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Greece, and the Netherlands. Almost 5,000 landing and assault craft, 289 escort vessels, and 277 minesweepers were involved. Nearly 160,000 troops crossed the English Channel on D-Day - Allied casualties on the first day were at least 10,000. 4,414 were confirmed dead.
