    The following appeared in the Marshfield News-Herald on Thursday July 31st 1969: Arvin Langjahr Sr. (By News-Herald Correspondent) COLBY - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Church of Christ for Arvin Langjahr Sr., 70, of route 1, Unity, who died at 7 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. The Rev. Kenneth Dix, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the Colby Memorial cemetery. Visitations may be made at the Lulloff Funeral Home. Mr. Langjahr was born July 20, 1899, in Kiel, Wis. He was married at Loyal June 12, 1930 to Velma Henke. The couple operated a grocery store at United and Riplinger until 1945, when they moved to a farm in the town of Hull. While living at Riplinger he served as clerk of the school board there. Survivors include his wife, five sons, Ellis Langjahr, Marshfield, and Arvin, Harold, Donald and Neal, all of Unity; three daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Irene) Edblom, Colby; Mrs. Jose (Doris) Drexler, Marshfield, and Mrs. Verlon (Lois) Sprangler, Rudolph, and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers. The following appeared in the Abbotsford Tribune Phonograph on August 7th, 1969: Funeral services were held Friday, August 1, 1969 for Arvin Langjahr Sr. of route 1, Unity. Mr. Langjahr, who was 70, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield on Wednesday morning, July 30, 1969, at 7 a.m. The services were conducted at the First United Church of Christ at Colby by the Rev. Kenneth Dix. Burial was made in Colby Memorial Cemetery. The Lulloff Funeral Home of Colby was in charge of the arrangements. Alvin Theodore Langjahr was born at Kiel, Wisconsin on July 20, 1899. He received his education in the Colby school system and at a business college at Wausau. His marriage to the former Velma Henke, who survives him, took place at Loyal June 12, 1930. He operated grocery stores at Unity and Riplinger, and later moved to the town of Hull, where he operated a farm until 1945.. For 24 years Mr. Langjahr was clerk on the Riplinger School Board. Surviving, besides his wife are five sons, Arvin Jr., Harold, Donald and Neal, all of Unity, and Ellis, Marshfield and three daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Irene) Edblom of Colby, Ms. Joe (Doris) Drexler of Marshfield, and Mrs. Verlon (Lois) Spangler of Rudolph. There are 15 grandchildren and three brothers also surviving.
