    Athene D Forte was born on September 10th, 1920 in Pikeville, Wayne County, North Carolina, to Earl W. Forte (1896 - 1999) and Maybelle R. Armwood, who was born in 1900. Both of her parents were born in North Carolina. Athene had ten siblings, six sisters including: Annie, Roberta, Vernell, Carolyn, Louetta, and one more; and four brothers, including John Earl, Wesley Devorn, and two more. Athene Forte, age 20, married McKenley Fort, age 26, who was a farmer and the son of Caesar Fort and Effie Locus, on January 4, 1940 in Greensville County, Virginia. See Athene Forte: Obituary.
