    Mr. Aubrey Reed Buchanan, age 81, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on September 23, 1929 in Henderson, Kentucky. He was the son of the late, Alton & Annie Buchanan. He was raised in Henderson and attended school there. He was united in marriage to Shirley Hammock and this union was blessed with one son. He was inducted into the United States Army during the Korean War on July 8, 1952 in Henderson, Kentucky and rose to the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged on May 4, 1955 at Fort Knox, Kentucky, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He worked as a heavy equipment operator with Operators Local 181and with the Pipefitters Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 157 as well. Aubrey met Dorothy Jean Daniels in Evansville and they were united in marriage on August 27, 1969 in Shawneetown, Illinois. They resided in Henderson, Kentucky for ten years and were member of the First Assembly of God Church there. In 1976, they moved to Carrollton, Kentucky and in 1978, then moved to Madison, Indiana. They soon became members of the First Assembly of God Church in Madison, where they faithfully attended as long as their health permitted. Aubrey was a member of Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion. He enjoyed in his younger years all kinds of water sports, square dancing, Bowling and playing cards. Aubrey died Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 8:40 p.m. at the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Aubrey will be missed by his son: Neal Buchanan of Henderson, Kentucky; his son & daughter in law: William Glen Miller & his wife, Judith of Madison, Indiana; his daughter & son in law: Joni Wooten Bates & her husband, Robert of Hanover, Indiana; his grandchildren: Nicole Buchanan, Michael Miller, Chad Miller & his wife, Leslie, Adam Miller, Danielle Miller, Joshua & Jonathan Wooten & his wife, Erin; his great grandchildren: Maggie Louise Adams, McKenna & Colson Miller; Abbott Reed Miller & Barrett Wooten; his sisters: Francis Buchanan of Henderson, Kentucky, Cheryl Vandiver of Cairo, Kentucky; his brothers: Dee Buchanan of Slaughters, Kentucky, Ronnie Buchanan of Land Between The Lakes, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews & other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton & Annie Buchanan; his first wife, Shirley Buchanan; his second wife, Dorothy J. McDaniels Buchanan died, April 15, 2006; his step son, Michael Miller. GRAVESIDE CEREMONY Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 8136 US Hwy 41 South in Henderson, Kentucky. VISITATION Friends may call Monday from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. SPECIAL SERVICES Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard. MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church. Cards are available at the funeral home.
