Augie Wakat was the son of Leslie George and Helen Wakat, husband of Cissy Mitchell Wakat and father of August John Wakat, Jr. and Trisha Lyn Wakat and brother of Johnnie Marshall Wakat and Michael Wakat and Anna Wakat.

Augie was the love of my life. He passed away December 30, 1985 at the age of 29. We had two children and they were ages 6 and 4 when he passed, which left me not knowing what to do or how to do it w/o him. I had many life lessons to learn raising our two children alone and there were really many times I could feel Augie's spirit right there with me. Somehow I managed to raise our children, which I'm very proud of and I know Augie would've been so proud of them too. Our son, August (Lil Augie) John Wakat, Jr. has one son, John Lee Wakat and our daughter, Trisha Lyn Wakat, has two sons, Jack Newton Shaksfer and Zackariah Andrew Shafer.
