Did you know?
In 1919, in the year that Barbara Nimnicht was born, on January 6th, President Theodore Roosevelt died. Having gone to bed the previous night after being treated for breathing problems, the ex-President died in his sleep from a clot that had traveled to his lungs. He was 60. After a simple service, Roosevelt was buried on a hillside overlooking Oyster Bay.

In 1923, when she was just 4 years old, Harlem's Cotton Club opened in New York City. Owned by a bootlegger and gangster, it was a 700 seat speakeasy that catered to a "white only" clientele. But most of the entertainers were African-American and featured some of the best entertainers of the time such as Lena Horne, the Nicholas Brothers, Ethel Waters, and Cab Calloway.

Celebrity Kidnapping of Charles Lindbergh Jr.
The kidnapping of the famous aviator and explorer Charles Lindbergh's first child took center stage during the 1930s. Lindbergh's celebrity and fame fueled public outrage over the crime, catapulting this kidnapping to the forefront of news, leading to a booby trap ransom, the 'trial of the century', the creation of Congress' Federal Kidnapping Act or the "Lindbergh Law" and the execution by electric chair of a kidnapper who plead his innocence until the end.
