Barcroft Boake, D.D., incumbent of Holy Trinity Church, East St. Kilda, and late principal of the Queen's college and Colombo Academy, Colombo, Ceylon, aged 62.

Called a "difference engine", it calculated logarithms and trigonometric functions.
