He married Mary Ellen (Quinlivan) Forbes in 1903, and had children Veronica Mary Forbes, Bartholomew Hycon Forbes Jr., Eleanor Frances Forbes, Annie Dorothy Forbes, Kathleen Monica Forbes, Andrew Francis Forbes, Thomas Gerard Forbes, and Mary Isobel Forbes. Bartholomew Forbes died at age 66 years old on January 1, 1931 in Warrenheip.
