He had siblings Elizabeth Mary Horsted, William Horsted, James Horsted, Thomas Richard Horsted, John Henry Horsted, Alexander Hamilton Horsted, Charles Edward Horsted, Robert Albert Horsted, Ernest Edwin Horsted, Herbert Arthur Horsted, and Louisa Eveleen Horsted. He was in a relationship with Mary Chapman, and had children James Horsted, William Horsted, and Elizabeth Mary Horsted. Benjamin Horsted died at age 78 years old on October 17, 1916 in Orford, and was buried in Port Fairy.
