    N&R Greensboro.co BERTHA MARY GARNER PINEHURST Bertha Mary Garner, 92, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Graybrier Assisted Living.The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at the Smyrna Methodist Church in Robbins, with burial in the church cemetery. Born in Moore Co. to the late Bennett and Hassie Hussey Garner and attended Acorn Ridge School, she married the late Wiley L. Garner and moved to Pinehurst in 1925 and later moved to the Pinewild Farm in the 1930s where she was caretaker for Charles T. Crocker and where she still resides. She worked at Hobbs and Worsham Grocery store in downtown Pinehurst for many years. She was an avid garner growing flowers and vegetables. She was a member of the Beulah Hill Baptist Church and attended the Village Chapel. Survivors include her son, Edward Lee Garner of Southern Pines; daughters, Daisy G. Watson of Pinehurst and Margie G. Walton of Raleigh; brothers, Marvin Garner and Earl Garner, both of Robbins, 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley L. Garner; a son, General Clyde H. Garner and a daughter, Helen Garner. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Smyrna Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1924 Smyrna Church Road, Robbins, N.C. 27325. Boles Funeral Home of Pinehurst is in charge of arrangements.
