Bessie Lee (Kirkpatrick) Watkins was born on March 28, 1900 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina United States to Sam R. Kirkpatrick and Isabella (Dunn) Kirkpatrick, and had a brother Lester Kirkpatrick. She married Erasmus Kyles Watkins on December 15, 1941, and they were married until Erasmus' death on October 8, 1967 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County. Bessie Watkins died at age 91 years old on November 21, 1991 in Charlotte, and was buried on November 24, 1991 at Weeping Willow AME Zion Church/York Memorial Park (Kirkpatrick family plot). in Charlotte.
