    Betty May Hillary is the daughter of William Tell Hillary and Ella G Thorpe. She had a sister named Lois Jean Hillary (1927-2003) as well as two half sisters Margaret Hillary (1917-1995) and Irene Hillary (1917-1993). She grew up in Oxnard, CA and was a 1942 graduate of Oxnard High School.There she was involved in ASB, the Radio Program, Student Council, and received the Lyman Beane Scholarship.See her senior yearbook photo at Betty Mae Hillary -Oxnard High School. She married John Carmody in St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York, NY and worked as a secretary. On June 5, 2000 Betty Carmody passed away in Orange County, CA and was cremated there.

    Her father, William Tell Hillary, was born on April 12, 1890 in Montfort, Wisconsin and grew up in Wingville, WI and Platteville, WI. He then moved to Lander, Wyoming and married Ella on July 6, 1922 in Salt Lake City, UT. The couple then moved to California residing in Oxnard, CA. He passed away on May 16, 1956 in Los Angeles, California. William's parents, Betty's paternal grandparents were William Hillary (1855-1936) of Hazel Green, Wisconsin and Sarah Ann Stephens (1857-1909) of Hazel Green, Wisconsin. Betty's mother Ella G Thorpe, was born on December 22, 1898 in Colorado and grew up in Puma, CO. She later moved to Jerome, ID and then married William in 1922. The couple then moved to Oxnard, CA and raised their family there. She passed away in Los Angeles, CA on December 9, 1991.
