Beverly A Kaplan 1938 - 1995

Beverly A (Perchinske) Kaplan was born on March 16, 1938 to Joseph Perchinske Sr and Gertrude (Wagel), and had siblings Cletus Perchinske, Catherine Perchinske, Joseph Perchinske Jr, Eugene Perchinske, Donald Perchinske, Joanne Perchinske, and Cyril Thomas Perchinske. She married Stanley E Kaplan on July 7 in Angola, Steuben County, Indiana United States and they later separated. She had children Jeannine J Gestrich, Scot P Kaplan, Debra A Kaplan, and Stanley E Kaplan Jr. Beverly Kaplan died at age 57 years old on April 9, 1995.

In 1938, in the year that Beverly A Kaplan was born, on June 25th (a Saturday) the Fair Labor Standards Act was signed into law by President Roosevelt (along with 120 other bills). The Act banned oppressive child labor, set the minimum hourly wage at 25 cents, and established the maximum workweek at 44 hours. It faced a lot of opposition and in fighting for it, Roosevelt said "Do not let any calamity-howling executive with an income of $1,000 a day, ...tell you...that a wage of $11 a week is going to have a disastrous effect on all American industry."
