Read it: I think Booker T. Washington died in 1915, so it was written then and probably written by Capp Jefferson while he was residing in Oklahoma City.

This is my great grandfather Capp Jefferson born June 1, 1877 outside of Smithville, Texas. Around 1899 he found his way to Oklahoma City, where he made his home for over 40 years. He met my great grandmother Sedalia Criag from Neosha, Kansas and they married and had Helen Jefferson (Bolin) in 1904 of January. Helen Bolin was my grandmother. Also to this reunion of Capp & Sedalia Jefferson was Ruth Jefferson (Lee), Hazel Jefferson (Gains), Orlanda Jefferson(Bennett), Branch Bruce Jefferson and Selcuta Jefferson (Billingslea). They"'re were other children like Tobe Capp Jefferson who lived 1 year and is currently buried at Bailey's Cemetery in Depew, Ok, and daughter Fern Jefferson and Pocahontas Jefferson all of Oklahoma City except 1 daughter who I think is Ruth who was from Detroit. Capo Jefferson came to Oklahoma City and begun building a small modest empire for a Black man in 1900"s. It is unknown where he got money from to invest in property, oil & gas, mineral rights. Capo Jefferson also wrote poetry, in which one was read at Booker T. Washington's home going. He also had any poems written in the Black Dispatch Newspaper owned by Roscoe Dungee. Capp Jefferson divorced Sedalia and later married Penniah Marie Roebuck possibly from Detoit, Michigan where they moved to around 1942 there bouts. Great grandpa's Capp seem to be concerned for the future of his race because he wrote about racial equality and ran for Republican office twice but lost. Great grandpaw"s poem's are geared toward his race. I found a few things like the Agnes Smith Oil well and the Jefferson Oil Well, among many other investments. He had business dealings with many Oklahomans of that time but alas I'm just getting to this part in my research. I am Brenda C. Lewis & can be contacted at [contact link].
