Add Memories, Stories & Photos about Carl

My Uncle - Lawless and Loveless in Tombstone
Carl was tall, smart, and good looking. He was the twin brother of my dad, Earl. Dad was a bad man but he was the good twin! I remember finding Carl secretly living in our garage as a kid among the boxes. He was always getting in trouble with the law or running out of money and coming to get some from dad, one way or another. Once he had to work on the pipeline in AK to pay back money he stole by forging checks that caused my sisters health insurance premiums to bounce. I remember him boasting he found an illegal source of gold encapsulated in quartz on government land that was netting him some cash while he continued his life's work of chasing down Wyatt Earp documents and besmirching those who had other opinions of the man. His sister, my aunt, was a nun and he even forged papers to steal the land she had been left. Carl was an absolute hoot of a guy unless he needed money or you had a young daughter. Both my mother and step mother both banned him from their houses because he couldn't be trusted around either. However, it seems he actually did find some original Earpania letters and documents that researchers found helpful. I think that is what he should be most kindly remembered for. Beyond that, he left a trail of fools who found out and fools who stayed fools. DuPont should have hired him because, before Teflon, there wasn't a law made that could stick to that man.
