I recall Carl also called Curly when I was growing up as a child. He frequently paid a visit to his sister Minnie and brother William Kirchner, Jr at their house on Sheridan Road. Curly drove a black Nash automobile and he was a huge man. There was often mention of his occupation which my relative was not particularly fond of. Curly was reportedly a bookmaker or bookie. That was okay by me maybe because I did not have any extra money to place a bet on anything. Something tells me that Curly must have had connections back in those days. How he got into doing what he did is beyond me. I never heard that part of the story.
