Carl Coopman Obituary
Carl L Coopman, 87, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of the Quad-Cities, died Jan. 12, 2010, in Phoenix. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church in Phoenix on Jan. 20. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Inurnment will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
Carl was born March 25, 1922, in Milan, son of Carl L. and Mary Osterling Coopman. He married Dorothy Jens. She preceded him in death.
Carl was a World War II Army veteran, having served active duty in the South Pacific. He lived most of his life in the Quad-Cities area. He worked for Illinois Wholesale Grocery in Rock Island for many years. He was their top salesman before moving to Phoenix. He was an active member at St. Francis Xavier Church in Phoenix. Carl was an avid golfer.
Survivors include a brother, Bob Coopman and his wife, Teresa, Hollywood, Fla.; sister-in-law, Lucille Coopman, Silvis; and many nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and a brother, Eugene Coopman.
