Carl Serwonski was a bright, friendly, creative young man who lived in Irwin, PA and attended Norwin High School (class of 1981). He was active in the school's drama club and wanted very much to be an actor. He was as open about being gay as one could be in a small, closed-minded PA town in the 1970's and 80's. That, in itself, was a pretty brave thing to do. A couple of years after high school, Carl moved to New York, hoping for greater freedom, acceptance, and opportunity. He contracted HIV soon after and died before his dreams could come true. If you knew him better than I did, please post something about him here.
