Bertone Family, 1937 New York
Bertone Family: Carmela Bertone, Carmelo Bertone, John Bertone, & Vincent Bertone. In 1937 my father took the whole family away from Castiglione, Sicily, Italy because my brother John was going to be going in the Italian Army. My father being a Naturalized American citizen took the whole family away from the fascists dictator Beneto Mussolini who was getting too chummy with Hitler. In 1938-39 WWII started. So on Dec 1 1937 my father booked passages on the ship called The Rex and we landed in New York. We lived there until 1955 when my father retired & we moved to Kingston, NY
