Carmen Ruiz (Sosa) Sauveterre was born in 1887 in Aguada, Asomante County, Aguada Puerto Rico. She was in a relationship with Raoul Gaston Sauveterre, and had children Raul Sauveterre Ruiz, Rene Sauveterre-R, Mireyes Sauveterre, Alejandro Perez Galloza, Ramon Sauveterre Ruiz, and William Sauveterre. Carmen Sauveterre died at age 77 years old in 1964 in Aguadilla Pueblo, Caimital Bajo County, Aguadilla.

In 1887, in the year that Carmen Ruiz (Sosa) Sauveterre was born, on January 20th, the US Senate gave the US Navy the right to lease Pearl Harbor as a naval base. Pearl Harbor is on the island of Oahu, a part of the Hawaiian Islands. The Navy was given direction to maintain "a coaling and repair station" at the harbor.

In 1898, at the age of just 11 years old, Carmen was alive when on March 24th, Robert Allison of Pennsylvania became the first person to buy an American-built car. He bought a Winton, which he had seen in an advertisement in Scientific American. The Winton, built in Ohio, was made by hand and came with a leather roof, padded seats, gas lamps, and tires made by B.F. Goodrich.
