She had siblings Mack Jackson, Dock Jackson, Lois Christine Jackson Henry, and Quinnia Bell Johnson. Carrie Mills died at age 87 years old in May 1996, and was buried at sunset cemetery in Kannapolis, Cabarrus County, NC.

Previously Secretary of War, Judge on the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, Solicitor General of the U.S., and Governor of both the Philippines and Cuba, Taft was the only President who went on to become Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

In 1928, Carrie was 19 years old when aviatrix Amelia Earhart, age 31, became the first woman to fly solo across North America and back in August. In June, she had been part of a 3 man crew that flew the Atlantic Ocean but since she had no instrument training, she couldn't fly the plane - she kept the flight log. The North American flight became one of her many "firsts" as a female pilot.
