Carson Elmo Woods known to many as Spud was a accomplished race motor builder,building motors for his son William's race car.The pair won multiple races in Tulsa,Noble and in Missouri.He worked for his brother Bill Woods at his used car lot,Woods Used Cars,located in Claremore Ok.Carson was a loveable man,kind and caring but also had a temper.He raised two children with the help from family without their mother being present.In early part of the 90's Carson had his own car lot located at his brothers old location while brother Bill took on other business ventures which included T-TOWN Auto Auction,Tulsa International Raceway and eventually Ozark International Raceway all while still running his auto lot.Carson's son William and him loved to race.His son won the track championship in just his second year of racing in the Super Pro bracket at Tulsa International Raceway,beating out notable drivers,David Giles(multiple time track champion),Tommy "Butch" Marrs(one of the best bracket racers in the state) to name just a few.Some say he was hard on his son at the track,although he did want him to succeed,he was also praising him when he did win.Carson loved to fish and was very good at it.He has left a lasting impression on those he met and his loved ones miss him dearly. He has a father,Bill Woods,brother Billy Woods Jr,sisters Darlene Anglin and Donna Helmuth. His children include William and daughter Kami.His mother Christine passed already.
