Mrs. Catherine Isabel (Manion) Eden, 94, of Milford MA, died Saturday (April 5, 2014) at Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl F. Eden Sr., who died in 2011. Mrs. Eden was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Bernard and the late Catherine (Byrne) Manion. She was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School, Class of 1937 and also a graduate of the former Burdett College, Class of 1939. Mrs. Eden was first employed as a young woman at the former NE Telephone Company offices in Milford. She then was employed in the family owned business, J. F. Hickey Insurance Agency located in Milford. She later worked as a bookkeeper at Hopedale Pressed Metal Company and then finally at Central Supply Company, located in Milford. Mrs. Eden was a lifelong resident of Milford and a longtime communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the church's former Catholic Womens Club. She was also a member of the former Friends of the Old St. Mary's Cemetery and the former Irish Round Tower Club. Mrs. Eden is survived by her 4 Sons: Gustav M. Eden of Southbridge MA, Carl F. Eden and his wife Jane of Milford MA, Thomas B. Eden and William E. Eden of Milford MA; 2 Grandchildren: Janene Abisso of Mendon MA and John Eden of Seattle WA; 3 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters: Rita Ludlum of Princeton NJ and Dorothy Saunders and her husband Reginald of Bowie MD; also several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Eden was the sister of the late Elinor Weinbarger of Florida. Her funeral will be held Thursday (April 10th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Wednesday evening (April 9th) from 5pm to 8pm.
