She had siblings Margaret Wignall, George William Wignall, Edward Alfred Wignall, William James Wignall, Mary Wignall, Kathleen May Wood, and Thomas Francis Wignall. She married Richard John Francis, and had children Catherine May Francis, Harry Roy Francis, Kenneth Llewellyn Francis, Gwendolyn Francis, and Harry Roy Francis. Catherine Francis died at age 53 years old in 1923.

In 1886, at the age of 16 years old, Catherine was alive when on June 13th, the "Great Vancouver Fire" destroyed most of Vancouver, British Columbia. A small brush fire got out of control and spread to the rest of the city. Dozens of people died and it was only after the fire that money was raised for a fire hall. The local Squamish tribe rescued people who had jumped into bodies of water to escape the conflagration.
