She was married to Daniel Bamblett in 1883, and had children William John Bamblett, James Joseph Bamblett, Daniel Bamblett, Francis Joseph Bamblett, Edward Joseph Bamblett, Hilda Agnes Bamblett, and Mary Kathleen (Bamblett) Wallace. Catherine Bamblett died at age 78 years old on June 7, 1940 in Devenish, Benalla Rural City County.

In 1861, in the year that Catherine Shields Bamblett was born, on August 5th, in order to help pay for the Civil War, the Federal government instituted the first income tax in the United States. The Revenue Act of 1861 was rescinded in 1862 but from 1861 through 1862, a flat tax was charged - 3% - on all income over $800, which included only 3% of households. In 1862, a broader tax was enacted.

In 1884, Catherine was 23 years old when on August 5th, the cornerstone for the base of the Statue of Liberty - a gift from the people of France - was laid. 120,000 people - most donations were $1 - donated to the completion of the base.
