Introduction

Cecil was so full of life he would do anything for anyone. We ask him for a ride and he gave us a ride in his new car he just had bought that day. He was showing off his new wheels. The same day he bought the car was the same day of his death. I was the lone survivor in the backseat of his 64 Chevy Camero. That day two souls were taken mine has been spared too many times. Have I cheated death or has death cheated me? I am wondering now. I would have traded my life for Cecils any day. To him his family my condelences to a very sad day for us both. I lost my babys father that day. We were all so young. At that time we did not have to wear seatbelts. I was lucky I had a bucket seat in front of me. God take Cecil and make him an Angel.

In 1960, in the year that Cecil Lewelling was born, on September 26th, the first televised debate for a Presidential campaign in the United States - Kennedy vs Nixon - was held. Seventy million people watched the debate on TV. The debate pre-empted the very popular Andy Griffith Show.

Did you know?

In 1970, he was only 10 years old when on May 4th, four students at Kent State University in Ohio were shot and killed by National Guardsmen. The students were at a peaceful demonstration protesting the invasion of Cambodia by US forces. There had been precedent for the killing of American college students. The previous year, on May 15th, Alameda County Sheriffs used shotguns against U.C. Berkeley students at a protest for People's Park. One student died, one was blinded, 128 were injured.
