Cecilia Agnes (Calley) Twyford of Frankston, City of Frankston County, VIC Australia was born in 1892 in Geelong to Agnes Ann (Hunter) Calley and Henry Knight Calley. She had siblings Henry John Calley, Herbert Robert Henry Calley, Robert Francis Calley, Albert Joseph Calley, Francis Alexander Calley, Herbert Robert Henry Calley, and Henry Calley. She married Leonard Bolton Twyford in 1918, and had a child Eileen Cecelia Twyford. Cecilia Twyford died at age 70 years old in 1962 in Frankston.

In 1892, in the year that Cecilia Agnes Calley was born, on January 1st, Ellis Island opened to process immigrants. 700 passed through on the first day - in the first year, 450,000 were processed. The processing center was originally a 3 story wooden building - with outbuildings - that burned down a few years later.

In 1934, at the age of 42 years old, Cecilia was alive when on November 11th 1933, an extremely strong dust storm hit South Dakota, stripping topsoil. Other strong dust storms had occurred during 1933. Severe droughts continued to hit the Great Plains and the dust storms devastated agricultural production as well as people's' lives for several years. The Roosevelt administration and scientists eventually determined that farming practices had caused the conditions that led to the dust storms and the changes they implemented in farming stopped the Dust Bowl.
