Celestina was 10 months old when my mother asked me to take care of her because she was pregnant at the time with Elena and she also had Ezekiel who was 1 1/2 years old. She said she couldn't take care of all of them right now. She was in a rehab center called Guiding Star where they allow them to keep their children while they are in the program.
I was so happy when my mom asked me I didn't hesitate to say yes, I was living by myself at the time and was a bit lonely. So when I brought her home with me, I played with her hugged her everyday and kissed her and also was in the process of teaching her to walk and talk. My cousin Irene Conger and I both would measure up in front of each other on the floor everyday and teach her to walk. Finally I think it took us about a week or so and she was walking on her own. That was about the happiest day of my life cause it had been along time since I had a baby to take care of and teach things. I miss her dearly she wasn't just my sister to me she was my baby girl, my child. Though I didn't have her that long I would tell her stories while she grew up to be a teenager, she would listen and aske questions. I always told her that whenever she was ready she could come home and I would take care of her. I love you "Pebbles" you were the sunshine of my life, like the song I always would sing to you. " You are my sunshine".
