Charles Calder McDonald 1st was born 1822 Aberdeen, Scotland to Capt Alexander McDonald and Elizabeth Smith Matthew. Bapt 8.2.1823 St Nicholas Aberdeen. He marries Sarah Herbert Robertson 7.10.1845 Old Machar, Aberdeen. She dies supposed at sea between England and Sth Africa and Charles marries Elizabeth Leslie 12.8.1851 Port Elizabeth Sth Africa. Charles is listed as Ship Master on his wedding certificate. Charles dies 10.8.1870 aged just 48yrs. He owned a Lemonade and Ginger beer factory Sandhurst Victoria Australia and a well known home called "Maybank" Campaspe Victoria Australia. McDonalds were a seafaring family. Alexander McDonald dies? Charles and family arrive Victoria Australia early.1853 his two married sisters arrive 1851. (Charles Calder McDonald was my G G Grandfather.)
