Charles Daniel Uhler Jr. of Lehighton, Carbon County, PA was born on August 4, 1920 to Charles Daniel Uhler Sr. and Elda Senia (Rohrbach) Uhler. He married Jean (Parry) Uhler, and had children Charles Earl Uhler and Darlene Uhler Kunkle. Charles Uhler died at age 88 years old on June 10, 2009.

My Pappy Uhler was the best :) He was a jokster , speaking Pa. Dutch with the adults when we were kids so we couldn't understand the dirty jokes . He was a WWII D Day Vet . , Purple Heart and Bronze Star decorated. For 50 years, he was a Tyler for the Masonic Lodge in Lehighton. He married my Grandmom Jean Snyder Uhler and had 2 children. My father Charles Earl Uhler and Darlene Uhler Gombert Kunkle

In 1920, in the year that Charles Daniel Uhler Jr. was born, on November 2, radio station KDKA began broadcasting in Pittsburgh, PA. This was the first commercial radio broadcast in the United States. Westinghouse, a leading manufacturer of radios and the backer of the station, chose the date because of the Presidential election. People liked it because they could hear about the results of the election between Harding and Cox before the morning papers arrived. Four years later, there were 600 commercial stations broadcasting in the U.S.

In 1936, he was 16 years old when on November 2nd, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) debuted the world's first regular high-definition television service. The channel had a short schedule - Monday through Saturday, 3:00p to 4:00p and 9:00p to 10:00p. The first broadcast was "Opening of the BBC Television Service".
