Introduction

Charles Eskins was my great grandfather. My name is Tracey Smith Wilson. He passed away while I was living with him and my grandmother, his daughter, Delia Evans, on Aug. 8, 1974 while I was in 2nd grade. My mother's name is Phyllis Cox (nee Evans). We were visiting his best friends, Roy and Ora when he suffered his heart attack. He also had a son, Albert Eskins but he never came around much. He had a large farm on the old Route 20 and was retired from U.S. Steel. He was married to his wife, Phoebe Eskins, who passed away before him. He built their home (all by himself). I have very fond memories of riding on the tractor with him when he was plowing the garden of corn, green beans and potatoes. We also had a strawberry patch which we picked and sold sometimes. We also used to walk the woods behind his house (this was way before 480 was built). Very wonderful memories. He was well known in Oberlin back then.
