Charles Frederick Kokemuller of Pleasant Valley, Scott County, Iowa United States was born on October 1, 1886 in Baldwin, Jackson County. He was married to Edna Jane Kokemuller on October 15, 1910 in Monmouth, Jackson County, and they were together until Edna's death on March 7, 1957 in Miles. He had children Mildred Velda Fischer, Viola Caroline Conn, Milton Kenneth Kokemuller, Arnold Walter Kokemuller, Kermit Harry Kokemuller, and Shirley Jean Reading. Charles Kokemuller died at age 90 years old on June 5, 1977 in Davenport, Scott County.

In 1886, in the year that Charles Frederick Kokemuller was born, on June 13th, the "Great Vancouver Fire" destroyed most of Vancouver, British Columbia. A small brush fire got out of control and spread to the rest of the city. Dozens of people died and it was only after the fire that money was raised for a fire hall. The local Squamish tribe rescued people who had jumped into bodies of water to escape the conflagration.

In 1911, at the age of 25 years old, Charles was alive when the first use of aircraft as an offensive weapon occurred in the Turkish-Italian War. First used for aerial reconnaissance alone, planes were then used in aerial combat to shoot down recon planes. In World War I, planes and zeppelins evolved for use in bombing.
