Charles Henry Sulis 1864 - 1944

Charles Henry Sulis of Footscray, City of Maribyrnong County, VIC Australia was born in 1864 to William Henry Sulis and Margaret Moizer Sulis. He had siblings Sophia Sulis, James Sulis, Elizabeth Catherine Sulis, and Ellen Sulis Twitchett. He married Nellie Stuart (Metcalfe) Sulis in 1887, and had children Charles George Sulis, Nellie Victoria (Sulis) Dooling, and Elsie May Sulis. Charles Sulis died at age 79 years old on July 7, 1944 at Walter St, in Seddon.

In 1864, in the year that Charles Henry Sulis was born, on June 15th, Arlington National Cemetery was created in Arlington Virginia. 200 acres from the grounds of Robert E. Lee's home were set aside to be a military cemetery. The home and grounds had been in Lee's wife's family - she was a great-granddaughter of Martha Washington.
