Charles ‘Chuck’ Clayton May 1, 2009 Charles ‘Chuck’ Clayton Facebook Twitter WhatsApp Email Print Copy article link Save Sept. 19, 1949 — April 25, 2009 MONTROSE — Charles “Chuck” Clayton, age 59, passed away on Saturday morning, April 25, 2009 in Montrose, Colo. Charles John Clayton was born on Sept. 19, 1949 at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, Kan. to Edward Nathan and Winifred (Guile) Clayton. He spent his childhood in Wichita and graduated from Wichita High School South. Chuck loved to play gospel music for the elderly up and down the Western Slope. He always enjoyed a seat up on a John Deere, tending to his land. He loved to take his horses up to the mountains and be in the Lord’s presence. He took great joy in the times he got to be with his grandkids and family. Chuck will always be remembered for the hard worker he was and how he reached out to his community. Chuck was an amazing musician and if it had strings, he could play it! Chuck was not ashamed of his faith in Jesus and was proud to be a “mama’s boy” at 59 years old! Chuck built many businesses from the ground up including a hay farm, concrete companies and other various construction companies. Chuck shared his faith openly and led many people to the Lord. Chuck leaves behind five children: Travis and his wife Kristi Hoffine, of Cazenovia, Wis.; Cody Clayton of Quincy, Calif.; Kelly and her husband Cory King of Windsor, Colo.; C.J. Clayton of Denver, Colo. and Heidi Clayton of Canon City, Colo.; grandchildren: Courtney, Kerrigan, and Brandon Hoffine of Cazenovia, Wis. and Wyatt, Cody, and Nathan King of Windsor, Colo. Chuck is also survived by his mother, Winifred M. Clayton of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Cheryl McMillin of Wichita, Kan.; niece, Cynthia McMillin and great-niece Kathryn McMillin of Wichita, Kan. Chuck joined his father, Edward Clayton; his sister, MaryAnne Pryor; his brother, Lawrence Clayton; and many more family members in our Lord’s kingdom. A celebration of life service will be officiated by Pastor James Conley on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 10 a.m., at the Delta First Baptist Church.
