  • Introduction

    Charles John Tousek was born to Vaclav Tousek (1878 - 1963) and Terezie Kotila (1879 - 1962). He had seven siblings: Tom Vaclav (1899 - 1986), Frank (1901 - 1989), Rosie Ludmila (1906 - 1986), Mary (1910 - 1974), Jimmie (1921 - 2001) and another brother and sister with the surname of Tousek. Charles was born in Czechoslovakia, as were both of his parents. The family immigrated to the United States in 1913 and were naturalized. Charles Tousek married Julia Ludmila Zapletal (1910 - 1991) and they had four children: Alice Mary (1929 - 2017), Bessie Julia (born 1930), Martha (born 1937) and Mary Ann Tousek.     The following obituary appeared in the Victoria Advocate (Victoria, Texas) on Wednesday, December 29, 1993: CHARLES J. TOUSEK FLATONIA - Charles J. Tousek, 89, of Moulton died Monday, Dec 27, 1993. He was born Oct. 29, 1904, in Czechoslovakia to the late Vaclav and Teresa Kabel Tousek. He was a farmer and a musician. Mr. Tousek was a member of KJT and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors: daughters, Alice Rektorik of Robstown, Mary Ann Joyce of Dallas, Martha Harris of San Antonio and Bess Ammerman of Hallettsville; sister, Bessie Hundl of Shiner; brother, Jimmie Tousek of Shiner; seven grandchildren' and eight grandchildren (sic). Also preceded in death by his wife, Julia Tousek on June 30, 1991; two sisters; and two brothers. Rosary service: 10 a.m. today, at the Parish Hall, the Rev. Gabriel Maison officiating. Burial: Moulton Catholic Cemetery, Smith Funeral Home, Flatonia.
