Charles John Huffam Dickens 1812 - 1870

Charles John Huffam Dickens was born on February 7, 1812 in Landport, Portsmouth England to Elizabeth (Barrow) Dickens and John Dickens, and had siblings Frances Elizabeth (Dickens) Burnett, Frederick William Dickens, Alfred Lamert Dickens, Augustus Newnham Dickens, Letitia Dickens, Harriet Dickens, and Alfred Allen Dickens. He married Catherine Thomson (Hogarth) Dickens on April 2, 1836 and they later separated in 1858. They had children Charles Culliford Boz Dickens, Jr., Mary Mamie Dickens, Kate (Dickens) Perugini, Walter Savage Landor Dickens, Francis Jeffrey Dickens, Alfred D'Orsay Tennyson Dickens, Sydney Smith Haldimand Dickens, Henry Fielding Dickens, Dora Annie Dickens, and Edward Bulwer Lytton Dickens. Charles' partner was Ellen Ternan in 1857, and they were together until death separated them on June 9, 1870. Charles Dickens died at age 58 years old on June 9, 1870 at Gads Hill Place in Higham, Kent, and was buried on June 14, 1870 at Poets’ Corner of Westminster Abbey.
