He had siblings Martha Spanswick, Emma Spanswick, and Helen Spanswick. He married Ellen Emma McMillan, and had children Johanna Elizabeth Spanwick and Ellen Eliza Spanswick. Charles Spanswick died at age 76 years old in 1934 in Eltham, Shire of Nillumbik County.
