    OLNEY — Charlsie Clytee Burdick Scobee, age 85, of Olney, Texas, died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, May 6, 2011. Services celebrating her life will be 4 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Torian, pastor of the First United Methodist Church and Scotte Clark, officiating. Interment will follow in the True Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home. Mrs. Scobee was born September 1, 1925, in Young County, Texas, to the late Henry and Cleo (Purselley) Burdick of the Red Top Community, Young County, Texas. Clytee graduated as Valedictorian from Graham High School in 1942. She was also a graduate of North Texas State Teacher's College. On August 3, 1947, she and Glen Scobee were married in Red Top Community. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2003. She began her teaching career in the True Community and later retired in 1985 from the Olney Independent School District after 30 years of service. She was a charter member of the Olney Retired Teacher's Association. She and Glen were partners in all aspects of their lives; the Conoco Wholesale Business, farming and ranching, the Olney Lions Club, as well as serving together in various church activities. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member and pianist for the Unity Sunday School Class. She was a member of the choir for many years and taught preschool Sunday School for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Rubye Burdick, Juanita Johnson, and Faydell Beck Robinson. Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Scobee of Olney, Texas; one son, Charles Scobee of Olney, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Otis Scobee of Iowa Park, Texas, and Frank Scobee of Burkburnett, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Mae Goodloe and Vida Scobee, both of Olney; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family suggests memorials be made to the Methodist Men's Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 305 Olney, Texas, 76374; the Hamilton Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 158, Olney, Texas, 76374; or one's favorite charity. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lunnfuneralhome.com.
